(Common across many SBI cards)

Feature

What It Means / How SBI Provides It

Caveats / Notes

Annual / Joining / Renewal Fee

Every SBI card has an upfront fee or annual (renewal) charge, which in many cases can be reversed (waived) if you meet a minimum spend.

The waiver conditions vary a lot. If you don’t meet those, the fee becomes a cost.

Reward / Cashback / Points

Cards award reward points or cashback on spends (in various categories). E.g. SimplySAVE gives 10× reward points in dining, movies, departmental stores, groceries. The Cashback card gives 5% on online spends and 1% offline.

Some transactions (fuel, government services, certain categories) may be excluded from rewards. Also, from 1 September 2025, SBI may stop giving reward points for digital gaming & government-related transactions on certain cards.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver

Many SBI cards waive the 1% fuel surcharge (often for petrol purchases between certain amounts) as a benefit. E.g. SimplySAVE card gives it for transactions between ₹500–₹3,000. Cashback card also gives 1% fuel surcharge waiver.

There's usually a cap (max waiver per statement, per window) and only for specific transaction amounts.

Balance Transfer / EMI / Flexipay

SBI offers options to convert your high-interest purchases or outstanding balances into EMIs, or transfer outstanding balances from other cards at favorable interest/terms.

These are optional and may have processing fees or interest rate implications.

Encash / Cash Advances

Some cards offer cash withdrawal (at ATM) or “encash” / cheque/draft options against your credit line.

Cash advances typically attract high interest immediately (no interest-free period) + fees.

Add-on / Supplementary Cards

You can issue add-on cards (for spouse, siblings, etc.) on many SBI cards, often with little or no extra fee.

All dues are the responsibility of the principal cardholder ultimately.

Contactless & Digital Features

Many cards support tap & pay (contactless), digital / mobile app management, online redemption, SMS / missed call services, etc.

Always confirm whether your specific card variant supports contactless (some lower variants might not).

Foreign / International Use

Global acceptance (Visa / Mastercard / AmEx variants). But transactions in foreign currency incur forex mark-up charges.

Also check whether your card allows international usage or is restricted domestically.

Insurance / Privileges

Some premium cards include travel insurance, accident cover, concierge, lounge access, etc. E.g. earlier, SBI’s ELITE & PRIME offered complimentary air accident insurance.

However, effective 11 August 2025, SBI has announced discontinuation of complimentary air accident insurance on several variants (ELITE, PRIME, some platinum cards).
